Profil is part of the new Diabeloop for children (D4kids) pan-European consortium for functionally enhancing an Artificial Pancreas (AP) system to better serve the needs and requirements of children with type 1 diabetes (T1D) and their families.

Based on a co-creative approach and clinical evidence D4kids will adapt the AP system with the ambition to

  • ameliorate the long-term trajectories of T1D
  • enhance the quality of life of children and their families
  • boost pediatric care
  • improve the sustainability of European healthcare Systems

Profil is contributing to explore specific barriers and enabling opportunities in European countries for marketing an AP system functionally enhanced for the treatment of children and adolescents with T1D. In this context the consortium is investigating reimbursement schemes, ensuring the compliance with European regulatory pathways, and outlining future trends and business scenarios.

The D4kids consortium comprises academic, research and industry partners from France, Belgium, and Germany. The project receives funding from the EIT and is curated by the EIT Health knowledge and innovation community (KIC). D4Kids will set another precedent for living the EIT knowledge triangle by integrating the creation of a new business, the education of different audiences as well as technical innovation and clinical development. Further information is available here.

Profil is EIT Health core partner and the coordinator the the CLOSE EIT Health innovation project. CLOSE is about implementing an AP+ product and service package in the care of people with type 2 diabetes.
