# Artificial pancreas for type 2 diabetes: the CLOSE project

There is a great and ever increasing socioeconomic burden on Europe due to the prevalence of people with multiple chronic diseases. CLOSE (Automated glu*c*ose contro*l* at h*o*me for people with chronic di*se*ase) serves to innovate homecare for insulin treated patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) by offering an integrated product and service package (AP+). Blood glucose levels will be controlled by an artificial pancreas (AP) that will be installed at the patients' home, operated through trained caregivers, and remote controlled (telehealth).
