Are you interested in the best glucose clamp method to improve your clinical trial or are you eager to learn about sophisticated devices, such as an artificial pancreas? Maybe you focus on other topics related to clinical trials, technology or diabetes drug development?
The Profil online seminar series brings the information you need right to your doorstep. Launched in May 2015 our series of online seminars covers a wide variety of topics on the diabetes and obesity fields.
Our first online seminar, alternative routes of insulin administration, discussed the past, present and future of oral and inhaled insulin and presented a guide for best practices while conducting trials for oral insulin medications.
Then we covered the advantages and disadvantages of automated and manual glucose clamps, and the necessary steps for clinical development and registration of insulin biosimilars. Last year, we addressed the relevance of ethno-bridging studies and the methods used to study insulin sensitivity in animal models and human trials.
Profil also delved deeper into diabetes technology while discussing the current state of the development of an artificial pancreas and the opportunities and challenges during the development of implantable continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) devices.
Last fall, we welcomed experts who discussed the design, conduct and analysis of clinical studies on NASH, and we focused on the discovery of molecular pathways, which may be targets for developing future diabetes treatments.
And it is not over: next month we will go live again! Our online seminar “Determining Energy Expenditure in Clinical Trials” will discuss energy balance and different methods to study energy expenditure and metabolic fluxes in clinical trials in obesity. Interested? You can register for our live online seminar here.
Clinical trials on obesity are key to improve the health of our future generations, as obesity can lead to a wide range of health conditions such as hypertension, heart diseases and type 2 diabetes.
Great results while targeting obesity can only be achieved, if in addition to studying the effects of lowering energy intake, we also address energy expenditure. Methods like doubly labeled water (DLW) allow us to measure total daily energy expenditure during real life conditions.
With these methods at Profil’s disposal our expert will provide you with an overview of available technologies and explain in detail the study of energy expenditure in clinical trials.
After this session we will keep you posted as we continue our series throughout the year. There will be some exciting topics that you will love. If you don't want to miss any, make sure to sign up for our monthly blog update (on the right of this page).
